  Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez

Review by: Nicole G.
Connecticut, Grade 7

This book tells about how peoples lives were in the late 1940s when people from Mexico tried to cross the Mexican boarder.

I liked the book Breaking Through because I liked seeing Francisco's point of view. It was interesting to see what that kind of life was like. It tells how Francisco wants to be a teacher and go to college. In the end Francisco goes to college and that shows that people shouldn't be discriminated by they're heritage. That people are all equal. My favorite part of the book was when Francisco sang the Elvis song in front of the class. It showed how it doesn't matter what peoples' heritages are they can still all have things in common with eachother. Also this book shows how when you work hard and try your best to get to your goal, you will most likely succeed.
