  Breaking Through by Francisco Jimenez

Review by: Richard H.
Connecticut, Grade 7

The book is about the rough times of being a Hispanic immigrant farm worker.

I absolutely loved this book; I never wanted to put it down. It was so interesting hearing this story from the other point of view and hearing how difficult it was to get through life. After reading this book I feel so privileged to go through school without getting a job to support my family and that I get to go through collage.
My favorite part of the book was when Roberto and Frankie (Francisco) were living by themselves and sending money to their family. Also I thought that the largest climax was Frankie getting scholarships to go to college. A part that surprised me was when Papa Jimenez cut off his finger.
