  Breaking Through by Fransico Jimenez

Review by: Trey D.
Connecticut, Grade 7

Well in the book Fransisco is trying to go to college and become a teacher.

Well this book took place in the 1960s and was in Santa Maria California. The main character is a boy named Fransico. His family calls him Panchito. he is the kind of guy that knows that to be suceful in life you have to have an education. He has a an older brother named Roberto and Roberto is like Franscicos mentor.Roberto also almost carries Fransicos family on his back. For example Roberto has 2 jobs when he is in highschool and he has all of his school work to do. Unlike Fransico roberto looks at educatio as a secondary not his primary worry. Fransico also has 2 younger brothers named Torrito and trampita. He also has 2 younger sisters named Rueben and Rorra.Papa fransicos dad is a very stressed man because he has a bad back so he cant work and help the family get money. Papa also thinks respect is the main factor in life. Mama is Panchitos mom. She is afraid of papa so she goes along with anytthing he says when he is in the room. For example when papa and panchito are argueing about if panchito should go to college or stay home and work she just stayed in the back round and said nothing even though she knew that panchito should go to college.
In my opinion i hated this book. Its a ''dont read''. There were no real climax and it had no suspence
