Back to iditarod race

iditarod race
By: Summer School O.
Pennsylvania, Grade 4

Today I am excited because I have been invited to race in the Iditarod. There are many things I must do before the race begins.
First I have to get my dogs ready by preparing their supplies. I pack the food, booties, rope, and treats for them. Next, I have to pack my bags. I need a warm jacket, warm accessories, clothes, extra socks, food, drinks, boots, a sleeping bag, and a tent.
I am feeling excited about racing in the Iditarod, but I am also scared and worried.
The race will be very dangerous with hard turns, cold weather and snow storms.
It is a long race, and there are many check points along the way. I will rest in cabins or in my tent along the trail.
When I get to the finish line I will celebrate by having a party and dancing. I think the race will be cold and scary, but fantastic.
