For the U.S., the war didn't start until we were attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor. Japan's attack caused us to enter the war. The president never wanted to get involved and promised that they woudn't, but if they wanted to fight back, they had to deal with Germany. This was a big descision but they knew what they had to do. They fought back and put Germany's wrath to a stop. Germany learned two lessons during the war...crime doesn't pay and don't mess with the U.S.A.
