Grade 8, Maryland
Country of Origin: Brazil

I immigrated from Brazil in 1979 to work at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, DC. I was the first family member to come to America. I had a very comfortable plane ride to America, but I was not prepared for the cold weather! I had not felt so cold in my life! I brought along a spring coat for the cold winter weather, which was nowhere near warm enough.

In Brazil, I was a student at the University of Rio de Janiero. I came to America right after finishing college. In Brazil, I liked to play soccer for fun!
