I came to America in 1973. I wanted to know more about the different parts of the world. My aunt came to America before me when she married an American in the 1950's. On the plane to America, watching the outside, I, for the first time, recognized that I was living in the small world (Japan). My first impression of America was that it was very different from what I imagined. It was very quiet and boring! I did bring one special thing with me from Japan -- my favorite book, ''Cyrano de Bergerac.'' In my native country, I was studying to be a stage actress. Now, in America, I am a restaurant owner. In Japan, I enjoyed watching a lot of plays.
