The person I interviewed was my mom, Ling. She was born in Taiwan and also emigrated from Taiwan. My mom came in 1919 for schooling. My grandfather came before her. Her trip here was very sad. She missed everyone and everything. The only one that she knew on the plane when she came was her father's friend. Her first impression of America was that it was a big place. The only special thing that she brought with her were Chinese cassettes. In Taiwan, she went to Sacred Heart, hung out with her friends, and ate outside of the temples. Right now my mom is a general manager of a rental car company.
