World War II

My grandfather remembers the day the United States declared war with Japan. My grandfather was 4 years old at the time. He was worried that his Dad would have to go to war but he didnít because he worked at The White House as a secret service man. So he protected the president. Everything changed because men had to go to war. Women took their jobs. My Great Grandmother was one of the first women lawyers. When she graduated from law school the only job she could have was that of a secretary. During the war, she got a job as a lawyer because all the men were at war. Everything had been rationed. Nobody bought new things because everything was going toward the war. After the war, my great grandparents got on a waiting list to buy a new car. It took them two years to get a new car!!
