When she was young, Xiao-Ling had fun playing the violin, collecting stamps, and watching movies. She was born in and emigrated from Xinjiang, China, in May 1994.

Xiao-Ling came to America to do research, and to have a better education. Traveling in an airplane to meet her husband, she did not think much about America even though she thought it was a great country. She had brought lots of pictures and books that helped her understand her research.

In China, Xiao-Ling practiced medicine. Here, she trains in internal medicine. In a way, she wished she had stayed in China, but in another way, she is glad that she stayed here.
