My name is Nestor. I came from the Philippines. I came to the United States on April 29, 1990. I came to America to get away from bad politics and start a new life. It wasn't very nice in the Philippines. No members of my family came with me but my wife did. I did not bring anything special with me. I got here by plane. It was tiring but it was worth it. All you had to do was show a passport with a valid U.S. visa.

My first impression of America was it was beautiful. I thought it was the most beautiful place I ever saw. I settled in New York City. I settled there because it was a nice place. It was not hard to find a new home. My job was office work. It was difficult to get a job because you need local experience. Now I work as a guard, nurse's aide and a driver/houseman. I think America is a very nice place to stay and it is a land of opportunity.
