I interviewed my grandmother and grandfather about their lives during World War II. My grandfather was in World War II working as a radio operator. He was drafted to the Army air-Corps at the age of 17. He was a part of many tough assignments including D-Day. During that battle was when he experienced the most fear. My grandfather said that he was glad to be a part of this great World War.
Back home in Pennsylvania, my grandmother was doing her part as well. She saved metal scraps, meat fats, and many other household items. She told me about having air raid drills and blackouts. Her brother was the air raid warden for her block. My grandmother also shared with me stories about going to see ˘The Eyes and Ears of the World÷ news broadcast every weekend.
