My great-grandmother was born in the county of Kerry in Ireland. Her name was May Morynihan, and she was born May 10, 1903. In 1924, she was 21 years old and came to America on a boat in the steerage section.
She met and and married Patrick D. in New York. Patrick was born in America but moved to Ireland and back. He was in the IRA army. My great-grandmother was a cook for John F. Kennedy for 40 years when he was senator and president. Although she was his top cook, she did not make big money. Her husband Patrick was a plasterer. He too did not make much money.
