Coming from the Philippines

I have many family members that are immigrants from all over the world. My great grandma lives in Brazil. My dadís mom, my grandma, came from China to Africa and gave birth to my father. My dad came to America from Africa. Lastly, my momís mom came from the Philippines to America and gave birth to my mom. My family is very interesting to me, and I canít wait to find out more.

Q: How did you feel when you came here?
A: I felt lonely, but I also felt excited.

Q: Did you know how to speak English when you came to America?
A: Yes I did, but I had a different accent.

Q: How did you learn how to speak English?
A: I learned how to speak English and Spanish in high school, back at my hometown.

Q: Why did you come here?
A: I came here because I wanted to see what America would be like here.

Q: Was there family living here, in the U.S.?
A: Yes, my Aunties and my Uncles were here to take care of me.

Q: Would you like to return to your hometown? Why?
A: Of course, because I miss our country.

Q: How old were you when you came here?
A: When I came here, I was only 18 years old.
