Mary N. was thirteen years old when America entered World War 2. She hated having so many rules and responsibilities. Mrs. N, Mary∆s mother, would always make her weed the victory garden. Mary always had to make sure that the tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, and green beans were watered, picked and in good health. They were always told not to use too much sugar and butter because they were some of the things that were rationed. Mary and her brothers and sisters were always being told to eat all their food. Her mom always said told them that the soldiers and other little kids were Hungary. Everyone in the Naulty family, especially Mary, was looking forward to the end of the war!
