Sara grew up during the depression. She lived 20 miles from the nearest town. Sara and her oldedst brother, Cecil, would make up their own entertainment. One of their favorite past times was going up in the barn loft to throw corn on the ground. Sara and her brother would jump from the loft just to see the chickens scatter. One day Mom landed on the only rooster. The bird would not move. Sara and Cecil stuffed the rooster under the corn crib in the back of the barn. That evening when the kids their dad went to gather the eggs the rooster was staggering all over the barnyard. Sara and Cecil thought the rooster was a ghost.
