Naomi Randolph Alexandra Savvas

Naomi Randolph and Alexandra Savvas are Kindergarten co-teachers in an independent school in New York City. Together, they aim to create a community of learners that motivate and support each other.

Jennifer Atkinson

Jennifer teaches first grade in Austin, Texas but was heavily influenced by her childhood in New Orleans. She inspires her students to discover the best in themselves and encourages inquiry into life’s experiences. Her classroom is often filled with laughter, music, singing and dance. She is Time Warner Cable’s 2006-07 National Teacher of the Year, and the recipient of other national teaching awards.

Angela Bunyi

A fourth grade teacher in Murfreesboro, TN, Angela takes pride in knowing her kids as individuals through readers and writers conferencing and using real-life elements to support learning. As a Fulbright scholar, she visited schools in Japan and took a teaching internship in Sweden. In her role of literacy coach she has helped approximately 60 other teachers improve their work.

Sandra Blair

As a teacher of READ 180, a powerful program offering help to struggling readers, Sandra is in her 21st year of teaching. Even though her students start below grade level, she expects them all to succeed. The atmosphere she creates is safe and nurturing, guided by humor and mutual respect.

Patty Blome

San Diego is home to Patty’s 9th grade English classroom. 90% of her students are Latino and receive an asset-based approach to teaching. She uses authentic assessment, such as conferences with students, word sorts and journaling to accurately differentiate instruction. Ultimately she is able to move most of her students to a level of proficiency.
