Growing Up
As a child growing up in Northern Ireland, Eve Bunting loved books and writing so much that she would offer to do her classmates’ homework. She also spent much of her free time writing stories, essays, and poems. Eve says her first source of inspiration was the poetry her father used to read her every day. Her first published story was the retelling of a folktale she knew from her childhood. Learn more about the author in Eve Bunting’s biography.

booksAbout Her Books
Eve enjoys writing happy stories for children, but she also thinks it’s important to write sad stories that will make kids think. Many of her stories are based on her family and experiences growing up. For example, Spying on Miss Muller is about Eve’s time spent at a boarding school during World War II. She has a wide range of interests and has written on several subjects, sometimes addressing difficult issues like racial prejudice, death, troubled families, and war. Learn about all of her titles in Eve Bunting’s booklist.
