Growing Up
Polly Horvath has always been a full-time writer; she just
hasn’t always earned a living at it. Before she began writing
at age 8, she used to play with all the cans and boxes and
spice jars in the kitchen and pretend they were characters
in a town. As soon as she learned how to write, those characters
took form on paper. In high school, a favorite teacher recognized
her literary talent and set up an office for her in the
back of the library so she could go there to write everyday.

About
Her Books
Did you ever know something in your bones, not for any reason,
but just because it has to be true? That’s how Primrose
Squarp feels in Everything on a Waffle. The whole
town is convinced that her parents were lost at sea in a
terrible storm. But Primrose just knows they'll come back.
As she waits, she observes all sorts of human qualities
in the people who, in some way, take care of her: an elderly
neighbor; the school guidance counselor; a wheeler-dealer
uncle; and an always ready-to-listen restaurant owner, who
serves everything on a waffle. Learn about all of her titles
in Polly
Horvath’s booklist. |
