Nominee
Arthur Ashe

I think that Arthur Ashe is a terrific candidate for the Trailblazer Honor Roll. I believe this because he was the first black tennis player to accomplish many things that an African American had never done before in the game of tennis. First, he was the first black member of the U.S. Junior Davis Cup team. Second, he was also the first black man to win the men's single at Wimbledon. After these great accomplishments, he was the first black man inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. This was a tremendous honor considering it had never happened before. As Ashe said, ''Success is a journey not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.''
