Benjamin O. Davis, Sr.

Grade 6, Indiana, 2/16/2001
I am recommending Benjamin O. Davis, Sr.for the Honor Roll. I recommend him because he was an eager military worker. In October 1940, he became the first black General Of the Army. He was born on July 1, 1877, in Wash., D.C. In WWII, he received many medals, including The Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star, The French Croix de Guerre with Palm, and the Grade of Commander of the Order of the Star of Africa. I think that it's too bad that he died on Nov.26, 1970, after living for just over 93 years!
