Nominee Guion S. Bluford by Kyle M. Grade 7, Pennsylvania, 2/10/1999 I nominate Guion S. Bluford Jr. to the Trailblazer Hall of Fame because he was the first black man to go up into space. He flew five missions before he was killed on the Challenger. As you can see, he was very brave to go up in the shuttles. He also often volunteered to go on the most difficult missions.
