Nominee Marian Anderson by Deanne E. Grade 7, Pennsylvania, 2/22/1999 I nominate Marian Anderson to the Trailblazer Honor Roll because she had to be strong to get as far as she did. She had to help her family when her father died, so she was forced to quit school. She took an assortment of jobs to earn money for her family. After these difficult years, she took lessons as a soprano. Her voice lead to a concert. Soon she became famous for her singing and performed many concerts. Return to Marian Anderson
