Did you ever read a story about Amelia Earhart's childhood?Well if you haven't heres a story that you might find interesting.Edwin Earhart[Amelia's father] took an edcutive job in 1905 with the Rock Island Line Railroad in Des Moines,Iowa.he and Amy Earhart[Amelia's mother]were moving to Des Moines,leaving the girls[Amelia and Muriel] with their grandparents in Atchison.When amelia was ten she saw her first plane at the Iowa state fair.When she was a little older, a pilot spotted Amelia and her friend, who were watching a clearing,and dove at them.Amelia said''I didn't understand at the time,but believed that little red airplane said something to me as it swished by.''On December 28,1920,pilot Frank Hawks gave her a ride that would change her life forever.By the time she had got two or three hundred feet of the ground.''i know i had to fly,' she said.De- spite having to attend six different high schools she was unable to gradute on time. From the age of ten she lived with her mother and father.Her grandparents had taken care of her in her early chidhood.
