July 3rd, 1937. This is the date that tells us that in two years Amelia will be officially declared dead. It's a sad story. Amelia planned with George Putnam to ride in a plane all around the world. She was unsuccessful. She was lost trying to land on a small island. She lost contact with the U.S. Coast Guard, and she and her plane were never found.
