What happened to Amelia Earhart?
By: Melanie P.
Illinois, Age 11

What happened to Amelia Earhart?
Two months ago, on July 5, 1937 Amelia Earhart went missing, the government last heard from her when she was in Japan. The government thinks that the Japanese kidnapped her, held her prisoner, and possibly killed her! The Japanese deny that they held her prisoner, and killed her.
A woman (from an island that Japan took over) said that a plane crashed not too far from her home. Later, the U.S. found plane parts, and a heal of a woman’s 1937 shoe in the around the island, —that the Japanese took over— but there was no evidence it was Amelia’s shoe. The Japanese might NEVER say that they know where Amelia is. Still we will never give up looking for her.
The U.S. still has not found Amelia or her navigator Fred Noonan. The U.S. is wishing to find out where she is and what happened. Fred Noonan drank a lot so Amelia had to give him lots of coffee to keep him so she had someone to talk to.
