Welcome to LitLeague!

Super Readers Unite!

Uniquely Effective. Seriously Fun.

Tailored especially for expanded learning times, including after school, extended day, intervention, resource rooms, and more.

LitLeague is an exciting new program that provides a joyous and interactive literacy experience for your students. The result of a one-of-a-kind partnership between Scholastic and best-selling author and literacy expert Pam Allyn, LitLeague can be used as effective after-school, extended-day, enrichment, or intervention programming.

LitLeague creates an engaging social-emotional literacy learning environment where children participate in book-related activities, including read-alouds, group discussion, independent reading, writing activities, games, songs, and more. Flexible daily time frames can range from 45 minutes to three hours, depending on preference and need.

LitLeague integrates all the key ways young people learn to read, write, speak, and listen by employing a signature set of lessons that inspire engagement and motivation. A typical lesson includes:

Power Up!

Whole-group read-alouds and activities focusing on the three pillars of teaching and learning.

Children self-select authentic books for independent reading and writing.

Wrap-up group activities and games that reinforce core academic and social-emotional themes.

The LitLeague Model

LitLeague recognizes the intrinsic connection between social-emotional well-being and academic literacy achievement. It incorporates the three core pillars of effective teaching and learning: essential literacy skills, social-emotional development, and engagement.

  • Social-Emotional Development
  • Bolstering one’s self-concept
  • Building resilience
  • The 7 Strengths*
  • Essential Literacy Skills
  • Fluency
  • Comprehension
  • Analysis
  • Engagement Skills
  • Stamina
  • Motivation
  • Independence

Each LitLeague lesson is framed around one of seven key social-emotional strengths that help children grow resilient and powerful as readers, writers, and learners. The 7 Strengths are Belonging, Curiosity, Friendship, Kindness, Confidence, Courage, and Hope.
