Valeta and Bryna's Best Back-to-School Ideas!
Student Objectives:
Materials:
Set Up and Prepare:
Directions: Step 2: Pass out Assignment Sheet and go over it with the class. Let your love and excitement about sharing family stories shine through. This will rub off on your students. Time permitting read Picnic In October and/or Memory Coat as examples of family stories. Step 3: Hand out and go over the Interview Sheet and Letter to Parents for homework. Send home. Students will have about two days to complete the interview sheet. When they bring back the interview sheet, check it over for any area that looks good for future family story development. Assess Students: We don't formally assess students after every lesson. When they bring back their homework, you can monitor and adjust if they need help. Evaluate Lesson: Are parents helping enough? Does each student have a story? Remember to say something about keeping the story authentic and true. Embellishing for the sake of excitement, if it didn't happen, isn't necessary. Simple things are interesting too. Does any child need a buddy to help him or her? Assignments: Student interviews a family member and completes
the worksheet. |
