Lesson 2: Reading & Vocabulary

Language Arts Objectives: Develop reading comprehension skills; vocabulary building

Health Extension: Learn basic facts about good health

Time Required: 30 minutes

Materials Needed: Reproducible Activity Health Notes (PDF); pencil and/or crayons or colored pencils

Directions:

1. Distribute Activity Health Notes (PDF) and have students read the sentences.
2. Reread the sentences and have students carefully note the information.
3. Part 1: Read the comprehension questions aloud. Have students mark the correct answers. (Answers: 1. his mom, 2. her hands, 3. eight, 4. fruit)
4. Part 2: Have students complete the picture–word match questions. (Answers: sleep, wash, fruit)
