Activity 6 — Creating Story Starters

Teacher's Notes

Activity 6 is a new start! The short version of the assignment is to write a paragraph that is a good beginning to a story that SOME OTHER STUDENT will use as a STORY STARTER. In other words, you write the beginning, and someone else will write the rest.

The only rule about this is that I would like you to include at least two of the techniques from the assignments I've given you. That is, you might begin with a description of a place plus some action and dialogue, or you might describe a person and her thoughts, and let that be the beginning. If you can get in description, setting, action, dialogue, AND monologue, you will really be showing your stuff!

However you choose to begin, try to make it a story you would like to finish yourself. Because, if we had an ACTIVITY SEVEN (which we don't) Activity 7 would be — guess what?
