Steps in a Process
Record the five stages of fighting a fire from "At the Scene of a Fire" on the chart.

Helpful Hint: To trace the steps in a process, look for signal words, such as first, next, then, last, begin, and end, that show the order of the steps.

What happens when firefighters receive a call about a fire? Work with a partner to write a paragraph that describes the steps firefighters follow before they can leave the station.
