Daydreaming
adapted by Maria RubjoRead the story. Use it to finish the next page.
Long ago, a farmer's daughter was on her way to market. On top of her head, she carried a pail of milk to sell. As she walked along, she dreamed about what she would do with the money she would make."I'll buy some hens," she thought. "I can sell the eggs they'll lay every day. I'll buy myself a fine new saddle with the egg money. Then I'll ride my horse through the green fields."
The farmer's daughter pretended to ride. She bounced up and down. Then down came the pail of milk! It spilled all over the ground. All she had left was an empty pail.
