Wonder Woman!
PICTURE
Wonder Woman comics began about 50 years ago. In these comics, Wonder Woman was really the goddess Diana from ancient times. Her mother instructed her to go to earth and help solve big problems. No way could Diana fly around earth looking like an ancient goddess! So she took on an everyday form and went to work on a newspaper, where she was known as Diana Prince. But secretly, when troubles hit the city, Diana put on her Wonder Woman clothes and went zooming about to defeat the bad guys and restore order.

CHOOSE A FORM
FOR YOUR WRITING

  • I'll DRAW a comic strip and WRITE THE DIALOGUE for my favorite comic strip hero or heroine.

  • I'll write up a whole new comic strip hero or heroine and write a CHARACTER SKETCH to describe this person.

  • I'll write questions for a SURVEY to find out what my classmates think a hero or heroine should be like.
WRITE
Use a sheet of paper to draft your comic strip dialogue, your description, or the questions for your survey.
GOING ON
If you liked writing about the chores of super heroes and super heroines, you might also enjoy writing about the chores of a real life person.
A SUGGESTION FOR REVISING
Work with a writing partner to check out the spelling, punctuation, and handwriting on your draft. Whether you've written comic-strip words, a character sketch, or survey questions, your writing has to be clear to your audience!
