What Makes Up an Ecosystem?
1. Students might add any of the following animals and plants to the drawing: fox, squirrel, rabbit, mouse, robin, sparrow, crow, owl, frog, toad, fish, insects, grasses, wildflowers, bushes, and trees.
2. Tree-dwelling animals would lose their homes; animals that use the tree for food would lose a food source; plants that grow below the tree would no longer be in the shade.
3. Land animals and nearby plants would lose a water source; water animals would lose their habitat.
4. Because the living things in an ecosystem depend on one another to survive.
