Download and install this ReadAbout server patch to address the following issues:
- Some students receive the following message when exiting the ReadAbout student application: “An Error Has Occurred. Ask Your Teacher for Help. (-1).”
- This issue was triggered only when the server was under moderate to heavy load. Students will no longer encounter this error when logging out of the ReadAbout student application.
- Some students were unable to read text that they had typed in the Word Web and Knowledge Challenge.
- The font display was changed in such a way that this issue will no longer occur.
- Some students experience very long wait times upon login.
- This issue was triggered only when the server was under moderate to heavy load. Students will no longer experience very long wait times upon login under moderate to heavy load.
ReadAbout Patch v1.2.3 can be installed over any ReadAbout v1.2 installation, including ReadAbout v1.2, ReadAbout Patch 1.2.1, and ReadAbout Patch 1.2.2. Note: If you are installing this patch, you do not need to install ReadAbout Patch 1.2.1 or ReadAbout Patch 1.2.2.

SAM Enterprise Edition v1.2.2 Server Maintenance Release
Downloading and installing this SAM maintenance release will correct the following errors in SAM:
1. This release will make it possible to update existing user names in a SAM Enterprise Edition database using the CSV/XML Roster Import tool.
The SAM Patch v1.2.2 also includes all of the fixes in the SAM Patch v1.2.1 listed below:
2. This release fixes two SRI-related issues with the roster export feature in the SAM client:
a) For students who have not taken an SRI test, the LEXILE_SCORE is 0 and the LEXILE_MOD_DATE is blank. The fix is that both of these values will be blank for students who have not taken an SRI test.b) Negative values of LEXILE_SCORE for some students. The fix is that these values will be exported as 0.
3. This release fixes an error in which teachers and administrators are unable to find some students using the student search tool in the SAM client. These are students who are not in any classes with assigned teachers (e.g. students who are only in a 'school-wide' class).
4. This release fixes an error in which teachers and administrators are unable to add periods to user names in the SAM client.
5. This release fixes an error that inadvertently causes district administrators to lose administrator access privileges in the SAM client. When a district administrator first tries to edit a teacher's profile, and then edits and saves changes to his/her own profile, the account is converted from a district administrator to a teacher.

SAM Maintenance Release 1.2a for Intel Mac Servers Only
This SAM maintenance release is intended for Intel Mac servers only. Downloading and installing this release will install a native Intel Mac version of MySQL for Scholastic Enterprise Edition v1.2.
This maintenance release can be run on any installation of SAM Enterprise Edition v1.2, but cannot be run on a prior release of SAM Enterprise Edition. To improve performance of SAM Enterprise Edition v1.2 on an Intel Mac server, it replaces its MySQL binaries with versions that run natively on an Intel Mac server. It does not modify any data in the database.

ReadAbout Server Patch v. 1.1.1 for Windows, Mac 10.2.8 or 10.3.9
Please read the information below regarding your specific operating system.
If your school's client machines are Windows, Mac 10.2.8 or 10.3.9, please download the ReadAbout server patch v. 1.1.1. This patch addresses a bug found in ReadAbout v. 1.1 in which Smart Words do not match up with their definitions in the Word Challenge. This patch should be installed on all ReadAbout application server machines. Please follow the installer instructions included in the .zip file.
After the patch has been downloaded and installed, each client workstation will receive new client code from the server. When a student logs in to ReadAbout for the first time after the patch has been installed, he will receive a message informing him that new client information is being downloaded. This process will take a few minutes. After the client information has been downloaded, the ReadAbout program will function normally.

SAM Maintenance Release 1.1.1a
This SAM maintenance release will allow the Manage Inactive Accounts screen to process student names containing special characters. Downloading and installing this release will correct situations in which a special character, such as an n with a tilda in a student’s name, has caused problems in loading the Manage Inactive Accounts screen.

This utility will allow you to restore a SAM generated backup file. The
download includes a "Database Restore Utility README" file that
includes instructions for Mac, Windows, and SUSE Linux (running under
Novell OES) users. Please be aware that restoring a backup database file
will overwrite all current data.
