How does it fit into my classroom?
W.O.R.D. fits into your existing K-5 literacy program with digital, guided gameplay that students can complete on their own, on any screen.
Students independently achieve learning objectives, while guided sessions keep them on track to complete each module with confidence.
W.O.R.D. fits into your existing balanced literacy program with flexible 20-minute sessions, perfect for students to play independently as part of a literacy center.
At the start of each module, W.O.R.D. evaluates your student's vocabulary knowledge through a placement test and assigns a personalized path for learning. Appropriate vocabulary is delivered in proper contexts to guide your students through each challenge.
The educator dashboard puts the right data in your hands to better inform your class instruction. Observe individual and class progress and identify opportunities for enrichment, theme exploration, or additional support.
How does it fit into a classroom schedule?
Every minute of a classroom's schedule is valuable. W.O.R.D. fits comfortably into flexible 20-minute sessions with the option to save progress at any time. Integrate two to three W.O.R.D. sessions each week into an existing balanced literacy program to give students sufficient exposure to new vocabulary or deepen comprehension of existing word knowledge in multiple contexts.
Only 60 minutes a week incorporated into your literacy block.
This schedule is just one recommendation, but certainly not the only way to incorporate W.O.R.D. into a classroom's schedule. We suggest whatever works best for your class!

My vision is for kids to have greater facility with core bodies of knowledge and the high-utility vocabulary that accounts for the majority of words they'll come across in text. If we can get kids to know 90% of these words, and to know them deeply, they will be better at figuring out the rest.Dr. Elfrieda "Freddy" Hiebert
