Wiley Blevins has taught elementary school both in the United States and in South America. He completed his undergraduate work at Bowling Green State University and his graduate work at Harvard University. Currently Director of Early Intervention and Phonics Programs at Scholastic Inc. in New York City, Blevins is the author of Phonics from A to Z, Teaching Phonics and Word Study in the Intermediate Grades, Building Fluency, Phonemic Awareness Activities for Early Reading Success, Teaching Students to Read Nonfiction, and other professional books. Blevins also volunteers each week in a first-grade classroom at P.S. 34 in New York City.
