Bruce Donald McCandliss, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at the Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychobiology at the Weill Cornell Medical College is an expert in brain development and reading development, including typical and atypical development of reading skills and the changes in the brain and cognitive skills that make this possible. He is currently conducting several research projects on how language changes over the early reading years, and the neural basis of individual differences in reading and math skills. Dr. McCandliss earned his Ph.D. in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Oregon in 1997, and received specialized postdoctoral training in neuroimaging at the University of Pittbsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon University's Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition from 1997-1999. Dr. McCandliss also serves as an advisor and consultant for several national and international organizations committed to enhancing literacy development via research insights.
