Tonya Ward Singer, M.F.A. Tonya Ward Singer, M.F.A. Language Development Literary Consultant

Tonya Ward Singer, M.F.A., is a teacher educator and literacy consultant with a deep commitment to ensuring all students access high-quality education. She travels nationally to lead systemic change in K-12 districts, and empower teachers with concrete tools to advance student literacy, language and critical thinking for 21st century success.

Inspiring learning is Tonya’s passion, evident in both her high-energy teacher trainings, and emphasis on rigor and relevance in curriculum design. She has taught at multiple grade levels as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and EL resource teacher, and continues to teach actively in collaboration with educators to research and refine the art of instruction

Together with Dr. Kate Kinsella, Tonya Ward Singer co-authored the LBook for Scholastic’s READ180 program. She also advised in the development of READ180 Next Generation, and iRead. Her previous Scholastic publications include "A Literature Circle's Guide for Holes by Louis Sachar" (2003) and The Scholastic Teacher Plan Book (2001). Her creative work has appeared in multiple publications including the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Seal Press anthology Expat: Women's True Stories from Life Abroad, (2002).
