| CELEBRATE PRESIDENT’S DAY WITH BOOKFLIX! |

On February 18th children and adults around the country will celebrate President’s Day — here are a few ideas on how to commemorate the day with BookFlix:
- Use the pair, So You Want to Be President and George Washington or Just a Few Words, Mr. Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln, to introduce children to famous U.S. Presidents and their accomplishments.
- After watching the story and reading the nonfiction book, brainstorm with students about the qualities that make a good leader. Make a list of adjectives that describe good leaders, such as honest, hard-working, and unselfish. Discuss why each of these traits is important.
- Ask students if they would like to be President, and if so, what would they want their legacy to be. Encourage younger students to draw a picture of what they would do if they were President; older students can write a paragraph or short essay in response to this question.
Not only are these BookFlix pairs a great way to celebrate President’s Day, but they can also provide some background knowledge for lessons or activities surrounding the current Presidential Election.
