Every moment, of every day, our students are learning how to comprehend their world—
and there is no more potent tool in the service of learning than language, both oral
and written. This is why we created Comprehension Clubs—an engaging teaching resource
categorized by theme, topic, and genre.
As a full-year curriculum, every day teachers and students talk, think, and write about text through interactive Read-Alouds and Student Book Clubs.
Each unit is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and directly addresses the five key expectations for English/Language Arts.
The collaborative nature of the “Student Book Club” enables all students—including struggling readers and English Language Learners—to find the support they need.
Students engage with authentic fiction and informational texts that build knowledge and academic vocabulary.
Comprehension Clubs includes a collection of more than fifty age-appropriate
books and audio titles organized around six thematic strands with Common
Core-aligned lesson cards. Every day, you and your students read—in a whole
group Interactive Read Aloud and in small group Book Clubs—and talk, think
and write about the books.
