Official Rules
- CONTEST: The Early Childhood Winning Ideas Contest ("Contest").
- SPONSOR: Scholastic Inc., 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012
- ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open only to educators who are registered on www.scholastic.com at
the time of entry and who are at least 18 years of age and legally residing in the United States. Employees
of Sponsor and its affiliates and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies (collectively, "Related
Parties"), their immediate families and those living in their households are not eligible to enter.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: To enter the Contest, post your ideas in response to the
discussion topic on the Early Childhood Winning Ideas Message Boards (the "EC Contest Boards").
Posting on the EC Contest Boards will automatically enter you into the Contest. In the event of technical
problems preventing posting on the Contest Boards, you may email your entry to EC_winning_ideas@scholastic.com.
These are the only means of entry. NO OTHER METHOD OF ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED. The Contest will be conducted
in eight rounds between September 17, 2007, and June 23, 2008. Each round of the Contest shall begin
at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time (United States) on the applicable start date and shall end at 3:59 p.m. Eastern
Time (United States) on the applicable end date. The start and end dates of each round are as follows:
Round 1 September 19, 2007-October 12, 2007;
Round 2 October 12, 2007-November 16, 2007;
Round 3 November 16-Dec 14;
Round 4 Dec 14-Feb 8;
Round 5 Feb 8-March 14;
Round 6 March 14-April 18;
Round 7 April 18-May 16;
Round 8 May 16-June 20
Entries shall only be valid for the round of the Contest in which they are submitted. You may post
on the EC Contest Boards as many times as you wish, but you will only be eligible to receive one prize
per round of the Contest. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of online posts will be accepted. All
entries, and rights in winning entries, become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be
acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and Related Parties shall not be liable for (a) telephone, electronic,
program, network, Internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions or other failures of any kind;
(b) late, lost, damaged, failed, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer
messages; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible
for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by
the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest. Proof
of posting does not constitute proof of delivery.
- PRIZES: Five winning entries will be selected by Sponsor on a rolling basis from
all eligible entries in each round of the Contest, for a total of 40 winning entries. Each winner
will receive an assortment of Early Childhood teaching materials from Scholastic, including books and
other teaching aids. Approximate retail value per prize: Fifty Dollars ($50.00). No substitution
or transfer of prizes is permitted by the winners. Prizes are non-returnable and cannot be sold or redeemed
for cash. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible
for payment of all federal, state or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) on any prize received.
Only one prize per winning entry. Winning entries will be selected on the basis of clarity, creativity,
topic relevance, and usefulness for the educational community. Winners will be notified by email, postal
mail or telephone using the contact information provided to Sponsor in connection with Educator Registration
on www.scholastic.com. Prizes will be sent to the mailing addresses provided by winners in connection
with such registration. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of a person submitting a post
on the EC Contest Boards, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of
the e-mail address at the time of posting. "Authorized Account Holder" is defined as the natural
person who is assigned the e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or
other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning
e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
- GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Contest is compromised
or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest. Sponsor
and Related Parties shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's
computer related to or resulting from entering the Contest. Entrants agree that the decisions of Sponsor
related to this Contest are final. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by these rules and
to release and hold Sponsor and its agencies harmless from and against any and all damages and claims
of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize.
Except where prohibited, all entrants agree and consent to the use of their names, addresses (city and
state only), likeness and/or entry by Sponsor in any and all media for any and all lawful purposes, whether
advertising, promotion or trade, including without limitation online and in print, in perpetuity without
further notice or compensation. By entering the Contest, entrants affirm that they have read and accepted
these Official Rules. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest will be
ineligible for prizes.
- WINNERS' LIST: Winners' lists will be available after the completion of the Contest.
To obtain a list of the name(s) of the Contest winner(s), send a request, along with a self-addressed,
stamped envelope to: Scholastic Inc., Early Childhood Today Winning Ideas Contest, 557 Broadway, New
York, NY 10012 (Attn: Tia Disick). Requests must be received before August 31, 2008.
