Titles for The Marilyn Burns Classroom Math Libraries were personally chosen by Marilyn Burns based on the mathematics content often taught in Kindergarten through Grade 6, the quality of the story, and the quality of the illustration. Drawing from classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction children's books, titles in the Marilyn Burns Classroom Math Libraries focus on national, state, and district math standards and frameworks.
Standards addressed include:
- Number and Operations
- Algebra
- Geometry
- Measurement
- Data Analysis and Probability
Because Number and Operations is the cornerstone of K–6 mathematics instruction many of the titles address arithmetic topics from counting to place value to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Several titles also focus on patterns, measurement, and data analysis.
Each Grade-Level Classroom Math Library:
- Features 45 Trade Books (25 titles total: 1 copy each of 20 titles, 5 copies each of 5 titles)
- Includes a Teacher Handbook that explains how to use each math book as the basis of a math lesson
- Reinforces math lessons with group and individual hands on actitives
- Comes in an attractive display case for easy classroom management
