READ 180 is a research-based reading intervention program designed to raise the reading levels and test scores of struggling readers in Grades 4 and up. READ 180 is the answer to the number one problem in education today: 20-30 percent of students in Grades 4 and above read two to three years below grade level. For these struggling students, the inability to read and write results in other problems such as defiance, avoidance, truancy, and failure. Extensive research with thousands of students has shown that READ 180 is dramatically effective in helping students break out of the Failure Cycle, restoring their self-esteem, and getting them back on track to read at grade level. READ 180 was developed to support individual schools and school districts in their efforts to create long-term reading success for struggling readers.

How the Program Works
In addition to leveled, age-appropriate, and research-based materials, the READ 180 Instructional Model distinguishes the program from other reading products. The Instructional Model provides a simple way to organize instruction and classroom activity. The day begins and ends with whole-group direct instruction. In between whole-group meetings, students break into three small groups that rotate among three stations: small-group direct instruction, time on the computer with the READ 180 Software, and independent reading.

Organizing the READ 180 Classroom
The READ 180 classroom is a special place for reading, learning, and sharing ideas. In setting up the room, teachers need to set up fairly distinct areas for each rotation cycle.
