READ 180 Technology Overview
READ 180 Software features intensive literacy activities for students and a powerful management system for teachers.
Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI)
 Each
READ 180 student begins the program by taking the electronic SRI
test. Based on the results of the SRI, the student is placed automatically
in one of four reading levels (three in Stage A) in READ 180. Teachers
use test results to guide instruction and book selections. Students
must take the SRI test before they can be enrolled in the READ 180
Software, otherwise the program will automatically default to Level
2 for the entire Topic CD. The teacher can manually adjust the leveling,
but it will not take effect until the student begins the next Topic
CD.

READ 180 Topic CDs
Each day students log in to the READ 180 Software to
work in one of the four learning zones using the Topic CDs.
Students engage in differentiated skills instruction and practice.

Scholastic Reading Counts!
This program is a simple, yet powerful way to motivate
readers to complete books. Reading Counts! provides custom-generated
electronic book quizzes for all READ 180 books. Quizzes are
automatically scored by the Scholastic Management Suite, which
produces reports on students' progress and the number of books
they read over time.

Scholastic Management Suite (SMS)
The Scholastic Management Suite allows you to manage
all of the student applications: READ 180, SRI Interactive,
and Reading Counts! This management tool produces detailed
reports and alerts that help teachers assess and track students'
reading progress. This comprehensive management and assessment
system provides teachers with: continuous monitoring and assessment
of student progress; and detailed progress reports to identify
skills mastered and areas for improvement.
