English-Language Learners

“I try my best to speak, read, and write English well…I know that if I try my best, there’s nothing I can’t overcome.“

A Growing Concern: the U.S. ELL Population is made up of 5 million students and is projected to grow to 13.3 million students by 2010. This growth, coupled with the national shortage of teachers trained to teach ELL students, creates significant challenges for school districts to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

Special features in the READ 180 reading intervention program are designed to meet the needs of ELL students. Now in more than 7,000 schools, READ 180 has been proven effective in raising the reading achievement scores of ELL students.
