New Scholastic Reading Counts!® Student Licenses

Scholastic Reading Counts! is making everything simple! Expanding on the positive response to our license pricing promotion this past spring, starting in September 2008 we are offering our Student License plan as the new way for districts, schools, and classrooms to obtain Scholastic Reading Counts!

With this plan, users will receive ALL currently published quizzes and, starting in fall 2008, all new quizzes will be delivered on a monthly basis. The program’s software and quizzes can be installed on a campus server (LAN) or on a district centralized server (WAN) for access by students with a valid, active student license.

For schools who have obtained Scholastic Reading Counts! in program packages and are obtaining quizzes incrementally, there are exciting changes ahead to ensure your implementation will be:

Easy to Manage - With total access to all quizzes, teachers and librarians do not need to search for and purchase individual quizzes.
Easy to Budget - With new quizzes on tap monthly for a flat rate, schools can easily predict how much they need to budget for upcoming years.
Easy to Update - All updated or corrected quizzes are sent to you automatically, with no need to order them or ask for updates.
Easy to Use - For schools that update to SAM Connect in 2009, monthly quizzes will be delivered to your server via the Internet - no more discs, no more additional installation.

New Transition and Conversion Plans Available

If you are a user of Scholastic Reading Counts! Enterprise Edition and have obtained quizzes incrementally and wish to transition to Student Licenses, you can do so with a special, one-time-only transition plan. Please contact us 1-800-387-1437 for more information.

If you have obtained Scholastic Reading Counts! Enterprise Edition or Version 3.03 since January 1, 2008, the cost of that acquisition can be applied to the cost of your move to the Student License plan. Please contact us before December 31, 2008 at 1-800-387-1437 for more information.

If you are a user of READ 180, the move to the Student License plan depends on whether you use Scholastic Reading Counts! school wide or simply in conjunction with READ 180. Please call 1-800-387-1437 for more information.

SRC! VERSION 3.03 USERS

To focus our resources on newer product and technology, Scholastic will end the distribution of Scholastic Reading Counts! Version 3.0.3 and quizzes on a stand-alone basis on November 30, 2008.

If you are an existing user of Scholastic Reading Counts! Version 3.0.3, in keeping with our End of Sale Policy, product support will remain available for purchase until December 1, 2010. You will retain the perpetual right to use the program and all the quizzes you have obtained.

If you are an existing user of Scholastic Reading Counts! Enterprise Edition or Scholastic Version 3.0.3 and you are not ready to obtain quizzes through the Student Licensing plan, quizzes will remain available on a stand-alone basis through November 30, 2008 and Scholastic will discount the cost of the quizzes by 50%.
