Success Story: Adairsville Middle School, Adairsville, Georgia
Adairsville Middle School ... The Success Continues Adairsville Middle School was on the state list of schools in need of improvement. By using Scholastic Reading Counts! as part of their strategic plan to reverse this situation, dedicated teachers, librarians and students have made impressive strides in the schools’ test scores. Review the below Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) graph to see the solid improvements that students at Adairsville have made in reading and language arts over the past three years. By encouraging independent reading through the implementation of Scholastic Reading Counts!, students’ scores have increased significantly. See the Data. If you are interested in how these gains might occur in your school, look over the Power Point presentation, created by Tommy Tatum, media specialist at Adairsville, which highlights how this school has implemented Scholastic Reading Counts! into their reading curriculum. With Scholastic Reading Counts! as a vital component of their "Reading Tigers" program (highlighted in last month’s newsletter), Adairsville has been able to meet AYP goals for the past 2 years and is no longer designated as failing.
