The research is clear. The highest performing schools actively engage families and the community in school improvement initiatives. Every community is unique, which is why we've developed a portfolio of tools designed to understand current perceptions and invite families and community members into the process.

Using data gathered from the WE Support Surveys, we will develop and assist in the implementation of a powerful community and parent engagement outreach and awareness plan. This plan will include identification of specific initiatives for involvement, strategies to improve communication, and planning and implementation of parent education programs.

The READ 180 Family Portal is a fully bilingual website designed to help families become active participants in their child's learning, including:

• 60 Seconds to School Success videos
• Scientific research and results, as well as testimonials from parents, teachers, and students
• Support for parents of students with special needs and English language learners
• Helpful links and additional resources that will promote reading at home and facilitate family involvement

Assesses community perceptions of the school experience as well as the community's expectations of the school or school system

A portfolio of research-based programs for increasing early literacy support, access to books, extended learning, and family/parent involvement opportunities, as well as mentoring and community involvement.

Parent reports provide families and caregivers with an update on their child's participation and progress.

Parent letters introduce families to Lexile^® measures and offer suggestions for how families or caregivers can help their child build reading skills at home.
