Patty is the Director of LitLife West Hudson and is a veteran teacher of both public and private schools in New Jersey and New York. She began her consulting career with Everyday Learning, and then spent many years as a leadership consultant working with teachers on the teaching of reading and writing at The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. She is also the writer of Time for Kids teacher training materials, which are used in schools nationwide.

  Christine Vogel
A graduate of Georgetown University, Christine Vogel learned what teaching was all about at St. Vincent Academy, a 140-year-old high school for young women in Newark, NJ’s, Central Ward. She founded The Learning Experience, an alternate high school in Newark for students who had dropped out of traditional education. It became the first CETA-funded, state-accredited alternative high school in the country. While there, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching English from Montclair State College. An award-winning producer of television and radio documentaries, she became Associate Director of the Education Division in charge of the Learning Lab, exploring the convergence of new technologies in education at WNET/Thirteen, New York’s flagship public television station.

The author of Eeyore’s Books for Children, an annotated guide to children’s literature for the famed book store of the same name in New York City, she developed an approach to teaching writing to adult literacy learners and taught writing to adults involved in the Newark Literacy Campaign for many years.

Currently, she is Chief Development and Branding Officer for AFS International, (formerly The American Field Service), sponsoring study abroad for teens around the world. She is a facilitator and consultant to non-profit organizations and, in her spare time, is writing a young adult novel and producing media art and documentaries.
